MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Bentley field hockey team's first overtime game of the season did not go the Falcons as St. Anselm pulled off a 1-0 win in New Hampshire Wednesday night.
Bentley goalkeeper Mia Trottie kept the Hawks off the scoreboard for 60 minutes, but St. Anselm scored the game-winner just 1:44 into the extra period. The Hawks scored by earning a penalty corner.
Trottie made four saves in the game, half of which came in the fourth quarter.
The Falcons nearly scored in the final minutes of regulation. Katie Thies put a shot on goal that was saved with three minutes remaining, but the Falcons quickly earned a penalty corner. From that set, Lida Coco was able to fire off a shot, but it was blocked by a defender.
Bentley played in five overtime games in 2022.
The Falcons seek to get back in the win column at New Haven, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m.
