Bentley returns home to host Assumption, St. Thomas Aquinas

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley Field Hockey team has been tested by several top-ranked team in the country, and now the Falcons return home to host Assumption (Sept. 13) and St. Thomas Aquinas (Sept. 16) this week.

 

Rumbles with the ranks

The Falcons recently took on No. 1 East Stroudsburg on the road (Sept. 10). Although it was a one-goal game at halftime, the Warriors pulled away in the second half for a 6-0 win. Bentley narrowly lost to No. 3 Kutztown, 1-0, on the road (Sept. 8). No. 5 West Chester outlasted the Falcons, 3-1, in Waltham (Sept. 4). The Bentley season-opener was at home, Sept. 3, when the Falcons stunned No. 6 Millersville, 1-0.

 

Trotting up high

Bentley goalkeeper Mia Trottie has the third-best save percentage in the NE10, entering this week with a an .875 mark. She had a five-save performance in the one-goal game at Kutztown (Sept. 8). Trottie's 0.50 goals-against average ranks second in the conference.

 

Shots will get through

Libby Harrison and Katie Thies are Bentley's two goal scorers so far this season. Lida Coco has two shots on goal early this season, but she has yet to score a goal following her breakout 2022 season in which she tallied seven goals.

 

Scouting Assumption (1-3)

They Greyhounds have been tested similarly to Bentley. Assumption has already played against No. 1 East Stroudsburg, No. 3 West Chester, and No. 2 Shippensburg. Although Assumption lost all three of those games, they mustered four total goals. The Greyhounds' win this year is against Southern New Hampshire, 3-1 (Sept. 6). Lily Daly is the team's leading scorer with three goals.

 

Scouting St. Thomas Aquinas (0-3)

The Spartans also took on No. 1 East Stroudsburg and lost, 7-1 (Sept. 2). The other two losses came against N10 members Pace and Southern Connecticut. Adriana Alfisi has a team-leading two goals this season.
