Field Hockey Heads to Pennsylvania for Games against Kutztown and East Stroudsburg

WALTHAM, Mass. – Coming off a 1-1 opening weekend against Millersville and West Chester, the Bentley field hockey team heads to Pennsylvania this weekend to take on Kutztown on Friday at 3:00 PM and East Stroudsburg on Sunday at 12:00 PM.

Opening weekend split

The Falcons defeated No. 5 ranked Millersville 1-0 on opening day. Senior Katie Thies scored the game's only goal 2:49 into the game. That was her 15th career goal. Goalie Mia Trottie made two saves to earn her sixth career shutout.

Less than 24 hours later the Falcons took on No. 3 ranked West Chester and fell 3-1 to the Golden Rams. Junior Libby Harrison had Bentley's goal in the 4th quarter.

Honor roll

Katie Thies and Mia Trottie were both named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll for the first week of the season.

Series history

Bentley leads the all-time series against both of their PSAC opponents this weekend. They have a 4-3 edge against Kutztown. The first meeting between the two programs was back in 1988.

The Falcons lead East Stroudsburg 6-3 and the first ever meeting was in 1996.

Up Next

After this weekend the Falcons return home to play Assumption, in a non-conference game, on Sept. 13 at 6:00 PM. A week from Saturday they host St. Thomas Aquinas for the first NE10 game of the season.
