Bentley Field Hockey to Honor Allyson (Bunce) Baroni & Hold Think Pink Day on Saturday

WALTHAM, Mass. – Saturday will be a special day for Bentley University field hockey as former Falcon All-America and national champion Allyson (Bunce) Baroni will be recognized at halftime for her selection into the Northeast-10 Conference Hall of Fame.

Bentley, which will be taking on Adelphi University at 2 pm, will also be holding its annual Think Pink game to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.

All funds raised will be donated to Dana Farber in memory of former Bentley field hockey player Meghan Martin. 50/50 raffle tickets will be sold and t-shirts will also be on sale.

Baroni starred for the Falcons from 1998-2001 and helped Bentley capture the NCAA Division II national championship as a senior. Number three on the program's all-time scoring list with 70 goals and 157 points, Baroni was the field hockey nominee for the Honda Division II Collegiate Woman of the Year award in 2001.

Baroni was a three-time NFHCA Division II All-America and a four-time first-team All-Northeast-10 honoree. Along with her sister Jen, the Bunce sisters are the first siblings to be inducted into the NE10 Hall of Fame.

This year's Bentley team is in the hunt for a Northeast-10 playoff berth with just over three weeks left in the regular season. The Falcons, 5-6 overall and 3-3 in conference play, are currently in sixth place with the top eight qualifying for the NE10 postseason.

Coach Jessica Spencer's team will be taking on an Adelphi team that is 4-5 overall and 3-1 conference.

Sophomore Lida Coco (Litchfield, Conn./Canterbury School) leads Bentley in scoring with five goals and two assists for 12 points. Her three game-winners is tied for the conference lead and she's tied for second in the NE10 in goals.

Following her on the Bentley scoring list are senior Caroline Szatkowski (Reeders, Pa./Pocono Mountain East HS) and junior Katie Thies (Liverpool, N.Y./Cicero North Syracuse HS), both with four goals.

Sophomores Erin McGuinness (Rutland/Wachusett Reg. HS) and Mia Trottie (Cinnaminson, N.J./Bishop Eustace HS) have seen the most time in goal, with each having been in six games. Trottie has a 1.47 goals against average and McGuinness has allowed only three goals in her last four appearances, covering 136 minutes.

After facing Adelphi, Bentley will play three in a row on the road with games at Pace, Southern Connecticut State and Franklin Pierce.
