Lupoli, Severance receive rookie minicamp invitations from NFL teams

WALTHAM, Mass. - Salvatore Lupoli Jr. and Mathieu Severance are going to show the NFL their best. The Bentley football standouts, both of whom are graduating this spring, received invitations to rookie minicamps. Severance is joining the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, while Lupoli is teaming up with the Tennessee Titans.

Severance was named an All-Northeast-10 First Team corner back in 2023, one year after earning All-NE10 Second Team. He broke up six passes this past fall, while totaling 37.0 tackles. Severance also got the job done on special teams in 2023, blocking three kicks in all.

"I am deeply grateful for this incredible opportunity, and I'm brimming with excitement to get started," said Severance. "First and foremost, I want to thank God for guiding me on this journey. My heartfelt thanks also goes out to my family, whose unwavering support has been my anchor. I owe a great deal to the dedicated individuals at Bentley whom have prepared me for this moment; your mentorship has been invaluable. Additionally, I want to extend my gratitude to the city of Lynn for nurturing my dreams. I am truly thankful for each of these blessings and can't wait to embark on this new chapter."

Lupoli is one of the most decorated players in program history. The linebacker was named the Northeast-10 Most Valuable Player in 2023. He earned All-American honors from the D2 Conference Commissioners Association, American Football Coaches Association, and the Don Hansen Football Committee. By the end of Bentley's 2023 campaign, Lupoli led all NCAA D-II players in tackles per game (12.3). His 337 career tackles are a school record.

"I just want to express my gratitude," Lupoli said following his invitation from the Titans. "I am so grateful for Bentley University and everyone who helped me along the way. P.J Dickinson, Catie Noons, Coach Kav, Coach Reynolds, Vaugn Williams, Coach Saj, and Coach Boyle. I am so thankful for all of these people."

Lupoli also received the Gold Helmet award from the New England Football Writers for best college football player (NCAA D-II/III) in New England. The Gridiron Club of Great Boston named Lupoli New England's Defensive Player of the Year (NCAA D-II/III).

Lupoli's record-setting 2023 not only included Northeast-10 MVP, but he was also named to the All-Super Region 1 First Team, and he was nominated for the Harlon Hill award for the NCAA D-II Player of the Year.

Severance will compete in the Chiefs camp as a cornerback, and Lupoli will see time as a linebacker, nickel, and safety with the Titans.
