Falcons prepare for first road test of 2023

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley football team prepares for its first road game of the season when the Falcons travel to Post Saturday, Sept. 16, for a 1 p.m. kickoff.

Two games, two points

Although the Falcons are 0-2 to start the season, each of Bentley's two losses are by just one point. The Falcons dropped the season-opener against West Chester, 20-19 (Sept. 2), and lost the following week against New Haven, 14-13 (Sept. 9). Both games were at home.

A return for the ages

Tajon Vassar set a Bentley record in the game against New Haven. He returned the opening kickoff of the second half 98 yards for a touchdown. The previous school record was a 97-yard return by Isaiah Collins on October, 5, 2019 against Assumption. Vassar was subsequently named the NE10 Special Teams Player of the Week.

Besting himself

Mason Campbell also set a school record during the game against New Haven. He booted a 49-yard field goal late in the first quarter, topping his own program record by one yard.

Pounding the rock

Mark Waid (97.0) and Vinnie Holmes (84.0) are first and second, respectively, in the NE10 for rushing yards per game. Waid had 98 yards on the ground against West Chester, followed by 96 yards against New Haven. Holmes has games of 83 yards and 85 yards rushing.

Reiding the room

Nayvon Reid is Bentley's leading receiver so far this season. He has seven catches for 78 yards, and his 11.1 yards per catch ranks seventh in the conference.

Stackin' tackles

Sal Lupoli, Jr. is the NE10's third-leading tackler  - he has 18 through the season's first two games. Lupoli is up to 232 tackles for his career.

Scouting Post (0-2)

The Eagles began the 2023 season with losses against Lock Haven (58-7) and Lincoln (48-32). Post is averaging just 2.5 yards per carry and completing 42.4-percent of its passes. Quarterback Simon Burkett has thrown one touchdown pass to five interceptions. Isaiah Emmanuel has a team-high 79 rushing yards on 24 carries. The Eagles have forced two turnovers, one of which was an interception and the other a fumble recovery. The defense is allowing over 350 yards of total offense per game.
