Lupoli Jr., Ogletree Earn NE10 Weekly Honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the second straight week, Bentley University junior linebacker Salvatore Lupoli Jr. (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) has been named the Defensive Player of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Following a 24-3 win over Southern Connecticut State Saturday, Bentley also had the NE10 Special Teams Player of the Week, senior punter Charlie Ogletree (Needham/Needham HS).

The Bentley defense turned in another outstanding defensive effort and Lupoli Jr. was a major reason. With Bentley extending its winning streak to four, the conference's leading tackler had 14 stops, including six unassisted, with two tackles for losses and a sack. The Falcons, who have allowed only one defensive TD in the last 18 quarters, limited the Owls to 193 yards total offense, four of 15 on third downs and 0 for 5 on fourth downs.

For the season, Lupoli Jr. has 80 tackles, including six for losses, along with two sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery.

This is the fourth consecutive week that Bentley has had the NE10 Defensive Player of the Week.

Ogletree, against the Owls, punted four times for a 44.0 average, with one touchback. A second-team All-Conference honoree in 2021, the six-foot-four Ogletree is second in the conference in punting, averaging 39.5 while placing 10 of his 30 kicks inside the 20.

Also recognized by the conference, with selection to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll, was graduate QB Mark Waid (Cortland, Ohio/Girard HS). With his team extending their October winning streak to ten, Waid accounted for two fourth-quarter touchdowns with a one-yard run and a 35-yard pass. He completed 11 of 18 passes for 140 yards and two interceptions and also ran for 45 yards on 10 carries.

Bentley, 6-2 overall and 4-1 NE10, is off until November when the Falcons will face American International College at home.
