Lupoli Jr. Tabbed as Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following his outstanding performance in Saturday's 10-3 win at Assumption University, Bentley University junior linebacker Salvatore Lupoli Jr. (Chelmsford/ Chelmsford HS) has been named the Defensive Player of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Lupoli Jr. is the third different Falcon to receive the award in consecutive weeks, following in the footsteps of senior Christian Lanzalotto (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven HS) last week and senior Jailen Branch (Randolph/Milton Academy) October 3.

Named the recipient of the New England Football Writers Division II-III Gold Helmet award on Sunday, Lupoli had eight tackles, one fumble recovery and an interception against the Greyhounds as the Falcons turned in another strong defensive effort.

The fumble recovery, which he returned 33 yards, ended Assumption's only red zone trip of the afternoon. His interception, with two minutes left, essentially secured the victory for the 5-2 Falcons.

Lupoli Jr. leads the conference in tackles with 66, an average of 9.4 a game.

Also recognized by the conference, with selection to the Weekly Honor Roll, was senior punter Charlie Ogletree (Needham/Needham HS). Against Assumption, Ogletree placed five of his career-high nine punts inside the 20 and three of those inside the Greyhound five. He averaged 38.4 yards and set a career-best with a 61-yarder to the AU 17.

Bentley will look to add to its four-game winning streak Saturday when it hosts Southern Connecticut State during Family Weekend.
