Bentley's all-time winningest baseball team lands seven All-NE10 honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Cory Bright, Steve Rizzuto and Tim Zupkus were all named first team All-Northeast 10 and six players earned All-Conference honors overall.

Brendan Sencaj was voted to both the third team and All-Rookie team. Tyler Gonzalez garnered a third team selection and Gabe White was named to the All-Rookie team.

 

Steve Rizzuto-First Team 3rd Baseman-Graduate Student

Rizzuto had a huge season at the plate and led the team in hits (67), home runs (9), RBI (56) and total bases (118). The Belmont, Mass., native posted an impressive slash line of .353/.448/.621

He leads the NE10 in hits and is in the top-nine in each of homers, RBI, total bases, batting average and slugging percentage.

Rizzuto was the NE10 Player of the Week on May 6 and he was named to the Honor Roll four times.

 

Cory Bright-First Team DH-Graduate Student

Bright led the Falcons with a .374 batting average and .515 on-base percentage. Those numbers rank third and first in the NE10, respectively. He hit five homers, drove in 27 runs and collected 49 hits. His .550 slugging percentage is 13th in the NE10.

He was named the NE10 Player of the Week on Feb. 26.

 

Tim Zupkus-First Team Outfielder-Graduate Student

Zupkus' .471 on-base percentage is fifth in the NE10. He hit .341 and slugged .509, with five homers and 31 RBI. He displayed a sharp eye at the plate and leads in the NE10 with 44 walks.

Zupkus also played a strong outfield and posted a perfect 1.000 field percentage from 110 chances.

He was named to the NE10 Honor Roll twice during the season.

 

Tyler Gonzalez-Third Team Utility Player-Senior

Gonzalez played all over the infield and was a key part of a deep Falcons lineup that wore out pitchers. He posted a .329/.389/.438 slash line, drove in 30 runs and had 48 hits. He slugged two home runs and had two triples as well.

 

Brendan Sencaj-Third Team and All-Rookie Team Outfielder-Freshman

Sencaj burst onto the scene in his first NCAA season. He hit eight home runs, drove in 31 and had 43 hits. His on-base percentage was .399 and his slugging percentage .541.

He was the NE10 Rookie of the Week on March 11.

 

Gabe White-All-Rookie Team Pitcher-Freshman

White led the team with four saves, which is tied for the sixth most in the NE10. He struck out 12 in 17 innings. He posted a 2.12 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP.
