Glupe throws seven shutout innings, Rizzuto homers to beat Saint Anselm

WALTHAM, Mass. – Ryan Glupe threw seven shutout innings, and Steve Rizzuto hit his seventh home run of the season as the Bentley baseball team finished its senior weekend with a 5-2 win over Saint Anselm Sunday afternoon.

Glupe allowed only four hits and a walk to improve his season record to 3-0. He retired 11 of the last 12 batters that he faced.

The Bentley bats came to life in the sixth inning, breaking a scoreless tie. Cory Bright led off with a double, and he came in to score on a double hit by Tyler Gonzalez. That's when Rizzuto stepped to the plate and smacked a two-run homer over the left field fence to push Bentley's lead to 3-0.

Following a Tim Zupkus double, Jackson Walonis hit a two-out RBI single to make it a 4-0 game.

Rizzuto and Zupkus both finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate, and Gonzalez when 2-for-5.

The Falcons next play at St. Rose Wednesday, May 1, for a make-up doubleheader that starts at 1 p.m.
