Beauregard belts Senior Day home run

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Eddy Beauregard belted his sixth home run of the season on Senior Day, but the Bentley baseball team lost both ends of a doubleheader against Saint Anselm Saturday. The Falcons lost the first game, 6-0, and came up short in the second game, 7-6.

Beauregard's blast led off the home half of the fourth inning in the second game. The home run cut Bentley's deficit to 5-3.

The Hawks grew that lead to 7-3 after the top of the seventh, but the Falcons would not go down quietly. Tim Zupkus led off the bottom  of the seventh inning with a single, and he moved into scoring position on a single by Beauregard.

Patrick Purcell earned a walk to load the bases, and Nick Pappas also drew a walk to force in Zupkus and make it a 7-4 game.

Bentley immediately put two runners in scoring position in the eighth inning. Brendan Sencaj led off with a single, and Steve Rizzuto followed with a double. Zupkus lifted a sac fly that scored Sencaj as Rizzuto moved to third base, and a groundout by Tyler Gonzalez scored Rizzuto to make it a one-run game, 7-6.

The Falcons put a runner on third base with two outs in the ninth inning, but they were unable to score the game-tying run.

Rizzuto, Zupkus, Beauregard, and Jackson Walonis each came away with two hits in that second game against Saint Anselm.

The Falcons and Hawks meet again in Waltham Sunday, April 28, at 12 p.m.
