Bentley set for a six-game NE10 week, including a weekend at home

UPDATE: The doubleheader at St. Rose has been postponed for a date TBD.

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley baseball team aims to back on the winning track with six Northeast-10 games this week. The first of those is a doubleheader at St. Rose Wednesday, April 10, starting at 1 p.m. The Falcons then host Pace for a doubleheader Saturday, April 13, and they welcome Adelphi to Waltham Sunday, April 14. Bentley's previously scheduled game against Bridgeport (April 12) has been postponed.

Hitting clinic

Bentley's .312 batting average leads all NE10 teams. Cory Bright ranks third in the NE10 with a .420 batting average, and Tyler Gonzalez is fourth with a .403 mark. Bright's .549 on-base percentage ranks second in the NE10.

Hot corner stays hot

Tyler Gonzalez, who mostly plays third base, enters this week's slate of games with an eight-game hitting streak. However, exclusively as a starter, that hitting streak is 14 games. He is hitting .415 with 13 runs in those starts.

What's Zup

Tim Zupkus carries a .520 on-base percentage, which ranks third in the NE10. He has reached base safely in 13 of his last 14 games.

He's got Rizz

Steve Rizzuto's 30 RBI ranks third in the conference. He has multiple RBI in eight games this spring, including four three-RBI games.

The rook can play

Freshman Brendan Sencaj is the second-leading home run hitter in the NE10 (6). What's more, his .350 batting average is 13th in the conference, and his .476 on-base percentage ranks eighth.

Scouting St. Rose (11-14, 5-6 NE10)

The Golden Knights enter Tuesday's contest with five consecutive losses, including a sweep at New Haven (April 6-7). Louis Gendron is the NE10's second-leading hitter with a .435 batting average, and Nathan Toms' 26 RBI ranks fifth. The pitching staff carries a 6.25 ERA, which ranks eighth in the NE10. Chase Tucker leads the team in innings pitched (29.2) through his six starts. Tucker has a 5.76 ERA.

Scouting Pace (19-8, 10-3 NE10)

The Setters are in first place in the Southwest division. Pace leads the NE10 in ERA by a wide margin, holding a 2.47 mark. Patrick Gleason's 1.42 ERA (38.0 IP) ranks third in the NE10, and Dan Brown's 1.88 ERA (38.0 IP) ranks fifth. Matthew Rinaldi's .339 batting average leads the team (min 50 AB). He, Anthony Labita, and Josh Miller each have three home runs.

Scouting Adelphi (11-15, 4-7 NE10)

The Panthers' 7.41 team ERA is second-to-last in the NE10, and its .270 batting average is in the middle of the conference pack. Despite the high team ERA, Coleton Reitan's 1.35 mark (26.2 IP) ranks second in the conference. He has four saves, as 10 of Reitan's appearances have come out of the bullpen. Joe Pellegrino has a team-high .385 batting average to go along with five home runs.
