Bentley Falls to Southern Connecticut State 10-2

LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. – Bentley dropped to 2-2 on its Florida trip with a 10-2 defeat to Southern Connecticut on Monday afternoon.

The first two innings were scoreless but the Owls plated the first run in the top of the 3rd.

The Falcons responded in the bottom of the inning. With one out, Hunter Smith and Tim Zupkus got on base with consecutive hits. After the second out, shortstop Steve Rizzuto singled to left to score Smith from third to tie the game 1-1.

In the bottom of the fourth, Tyler Gonzalez led off with a single. A one out single by Patrick Purcell advanced Gonzalez to third. The next batter Joe Cacciatore drove in Gonzalez to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead.

Neither team scored in the fifth inning. In the sixth inning the Owls scored three times to take a 4-2 lead and would not look back as they scored in each of the final four innings.

Falcons starter Brandon Arsenault went five innings and allowed just one run on three hits with two strikeouts.

Bentley will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they play Caldwell.
