WALTHAM, Mass. – Tyler Gonzalez hit a walkoff two-run single to give the Bentley baseball team a 7-6 victory over St. Michael's in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader Sunday at Waltham High School's Yetten Field. The Falcons lost the first game of the day, 6-4.

Tim Zupkus went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Steve Rizzuto and Brian Lindsay both collected a couple of hits, but the Falcons came up just short in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader, 6-4.

Bentley jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. All three runs came with two outs on the board. Zupkus got the rally started with a one-out single, and he moved to third base on a groundout. Rizzuto promptly followed with an RBI single, an then he moved into scoring position by stealing second base.

Rizzuto came around to score on a base knock by Jackson Walonis. Similarly to Rizzuto, Walonis stole second to get into scoring position for Lindsay, who delivered an RBI single to right field.

Bentley added another run in the second inning thanks to an RBI double by Zupkus, but it wound up being the Falcons' final score of the game. The Purple Knights rallied for four runs in the fifth inning, and they added two more in the eighth.

Bentley loaded the bases with one out in the seventh inning, but a double play extinguished the threat.

The Falcons rallied for a four-run seventh inning, and Gonzalez hit a walk-off single to give Bentley a 7-6 victory in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader.

Bentley entered the final frame in 6-3 hole, but Rene Nunez led off the bottom of the seventh by drawing a walk. Two betters, Nick Pappas reached base with a single as Nunez moved up to second base.

The next Bentley batter – Zupkus – grounded to the shortstop, but the Purple Knights committed an error that allowed Nunez to score. Cory Bright followed with a single to load the bases, and then Rizzuto drew a walk to force in a run and cut Bentley's deficit to 6-5.

Gonzalez was the next batter up, and he ripped a singe to centerfield that scored both Zupkus and Bright for the walk-off win.

Gonzalez finished the game 2-for-3. He was the only player on either team with multiple hits.

The Falcons return to Florida for eight games during spring break (March 8-15), starting with a March 8 date with Molloy.
