WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior third baseman Steve Rizzuto (Belmont/Belmont HS) was recently named the Division II East Region Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association for the week of April 24-30. He was previously selected as the Northeast-10 Player of the Week.

In five Bentley wins, Rizzuto hit .524 and slugged .952 while amassing 13 RBI and eight runs scored. Among his 13 hits were six for extra bases (four doubles, a triple and a home run).

His week included five RBI, four runs scored and four hits in an 18-5 win at Saint Anselm, three hits and three RBI in a 15-3 road win against Saint Rose and three RBI in a 12-8 win against Saint Anselm.

Rizzuto enters the double-elimination portion of the Northeast-10 Championships with a .319 average, 36 RBI, 20 extra base hits and a .532 slugging percentage. For his career, he has a .289 average with 111 hits, 80 runs and 91 RBI.

Rizzuto is the third Falcon to receive Hitter of the Week honors this season, following Liam Sears (March 9) and Stan DeMartinis III (March 2).

Bentley, 23-20, opens the second round of the NE10 championships today at 2:30 pm against Pace University at Le Moyne College.
