Heber Named Northeast-10 Pitcher & Rookie of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following an outstanding performance on Sunday, Bentley University freshman Pat Heber (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City HS) has been named the Baseball Pitcher and Rookie of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference.

The lefty was impressive from the mound in a 14-2 win over Assumption. Heber limited the Greyhounds to four hits and one earned run while striking out a dozen, including ten swinging, and walking none. Of the 21 outs in the complete game performance, 12 came via the K.

Heber has been in five games this season and has a 2-1 record, one save and a 4.35 ERA in 20.2 innings. He has struck out 28 with his 12.19 average per nine innings third best in the conference.

Also recognized, with selection to the Weekly Honor Roll, was sophomore left fielder Stan DeMartinis III (Boca Raton, Fla./American Heritage HS).

In three games against Assumption, DeMartinis III helped Bentley to a 2-1 record by slashing .444/.615/1.222 with two home runs, 11 total bases, five runs scored and five RBI. He was two-for-four with three runs scored and two RBI in a 14-2 win and was two-for-two with two runs scored, three RBI and two walks in a 5-4 win. DeMartinis III homered in each game and now leads the conference with eight blasts, including one he hit today.

Bentley, 10-7 overall and 2-2 NE10, will host American International in a four-game series this weekend on DeFelice Field.
