Beauregard & DeMartinis III Team for 7 RBI as Bentley Defeats Adelphi for 3rd Straight Win

LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Senior first baseman Eddy Beauregard (Paxton, Mass./Wachusett Reg. HS) and sophomore left fielder Stan DeMartinis III (Boca Raton, Fla./American Heritage HS) combined for seven RBI as the Bentley University baseball team wrapped up its Florida trip by winning its third straight, 11-9 over Adelphi University in non-conference action at the Santaluces Athletic Complex.

Beauregard homered during a seven-run fourth inning for 8-5 Bentley with both graduate DH Liam Sears (Springfield, Mass./Pope Francis HS) and DeMartinis III scoring on his fifth round tripper of the season. It tied him with DeMartinis III for the Northeast-10 Conference lead.

Beauregard, who is hitting a sizzling .489, also had singles in the first and fifth innings with his one in the fifth driving in DeMartinis III with the final run of a four-run inning.

DeMartinis had an RBI single in the fourth and a two-run double in the fifth. He also scored in both of those innings.

Bentley, which had an 11-4 lead after those two big innings, saw Adelphi draw within two with one run in the seventh and four in the ninth. They had the potential tying run at the plate when freshman pitcher Steve Hardiman (Massapequa, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial HS) picked off a runner to end the game. The save was his first as a collegian.

Graduate righthander Brandon Ostiguy (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia HS) picked up the win after pitching the first five inning and allowing five hits and one earned run.

Adelphi (8-9) was led by junior left fielder Alex Rende (Massapequa, N.Y.), with three hits, a triple and three RBI.

Bentley will begin a four-game road series with Assumption University next Friday at 3:30 pm.
