WALTHAM, Mass. – Following an outstanding performance in Sunday's doubleheader against St. Michael's College, Bentley University grad student Liam Sears (Springfield/Pope Francis HS) has been named the Baseball Player of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference.

In the sweep of the Purple Knights, Sears drove in seven runs, scored three times and had a .714/.600/1.429 slash line. His five hits included two double and a homer, and he also had two sacrifice flies. In a come-from-behind 16-9 win in game one, the Falcon designated hitter drove in four with two hits and a pair of sacrifice flies. He followed that performance with a 3-for-3 with three runs scored, three RBI, a double and homer in a 7-3 game two win.

Six games into the season, Sears is hitting .444 and slugging .889 with eight RBI and nine runs scored. His on base percentage is a lofty .556.

In 77 career games, Sears has a .341 batting average with his 88 hits including 18 doubles, two triples and seven home runs.

This marks the second straight week a Falcon has been named the NE10 Baseball Player of the Week with Sears following sophomore shortstop Stan DeMartinis III (Boca Raton, Fla./American Heritage HS).

Bentley, 5-1, will be heading to Florida later in the week to a seven-game trip.
