DeMartinis III Honored as Northeast-10 Baseball Player of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – After homering four times and slugging 1.417 during a season-opening four-game series against Assumption University in Florida, Bentley University sophomore shortstop Stan DeMartinis III (Boca Raton, Fla./American Heritage HS) has been named the Baseball Player of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference.

While helping the Falcons to a 3-1 trip, DeMartinis III drove in eight runs, scored six times and had a slash line of .417/.588/1.417 in addition to clearing the fence four times. He homered twice and drove in five in his Bentley debut, and went deep in the eighth inning the next day to break an 11-11 eighth-inning tie and give Bentley a 12-11 win. DeMartinis III reached base 10 times in four games and amassed 17 total bases.

DeMartinis III transferred to Bentley in January after playing in 20 games at Bryant University last year.

Also honored, with selection to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll, was graduate right-hander Brandon Ostiguy (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia HS). In his first career start after 24 relief appearances, he pitched five shutout innings against Assumption Saturday, allowing three hits while walking one and striking out seven. He earned the victory in the 7-0 shutout.

Bentley, 3-1, is scheduled to play a doubleheader locally on Saturday against St. Michael's and return to Florida for seven games from March 11-17.
