Touri, Murphy & Hergott Named Bentley Cross Country Captains

WALTHAM, Mass. – Tina Touri (Watertown/Watertown HS), Dan Hergott (Wallingford, Conn./ Xavier HS) and Cody Murphy (Dunbarton, N.H./Goffstown HS), a trio of seniors, will serve as captains of the 2018 Bentley University cross country teams, head coach Kevin Curtin announced.

Touri made her collegiate cross country debut last fall with her accomplishments including placing 51st in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships and 68th in the NCAA Division II East Regional. Both were 6,000-meter races with Touri posting times on 24:01.3 in the NE10's and 25:22.8 in the regional.

Last winter, Touri finished 14th in the 800 meters at the NE10 Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Murphy was one of Bentley's top three runners last fall when he finished 20th in the Northeast-10 Championships and 46th in the NCAA East Regional. He finished the conference championships with a time of 25:22.11 for 8,000 meters and posted a 10,000-meter time of 35:32.3 in the regional.

Murphy's junior year included finishing second in the 10K at the NE10 outdoor championships (32:34.27) and 12th in the same event at the outdoor New Englands (32:04.57).

Hergott, whose twin sister Hayley is on the Bentley women's cross country team, scored in four of five races for the Falcons a year ago. He was 40th at the Northeast-10 Championships (26:38.81) and 89th in the NCAA Regional (37:12.6).

Outdoors last spring, Hergott placed tenth in the 5,000 at the NE10's, completing the race in 15:41.25.

Bentley opens its 2018 season Saturday with the Shacklette Invitational at Saint Anselm.
