Leach, Loughnane Lead Bentley Women at Kirsch Cup

HOPKINTON, N.H. – Junior Mary Leach (Peabody/Peabody Veterans HS) and sophomore Courtney Loughnane (Canton, Mass./Canton HS) were the first members of the Bentley University women's cross country team to reach the finish line during Friday's 3rd annual Kirsch Cup, hosted by Franklin Pierce University at the Hopkinton State Park.

In a field of 101, Leach was 13th with a 4,000-meter time of 15:30.3 and Loughnane followed in 15:34.1, good for 15th place.

Bentley's other top 50 finisher was sophomore Caroline Conrad (Bedford, N.H./Bedford HS), who was 38th with a 16:08.7.

The Falcons were seventh of nine in the team standings, missing out on sixth place by just three points. Merrimack ran to the team title, edging Saint Anselm 66-74. Laura O'Hanlon of Southern New Hampshire claimed individual honors with a winning time of 14:30.1, eight seconds better than runner-up Alyssa Lambert of Franklin Pierce.

Bentley's next competition will be the Northeast-10 Conference Championships Oct. 25 in Colchester, Vt.
