Albanese & Bartolotta Top Finishers for Bentley Women in UMass-Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Eight of the 11 runners to compete for the Bentley University women's cross country team during the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational Saturday achieved new personal bests, including the team's top two finishers, junior Samantha Albanese (Lynnfield/Lynnfield HS) and freshman Marianne Bartolotta (Wantagh, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS).

Competing in a field of 272 runners, Albanese was 50th in 19:35.4 and Bartolotta was 68th in 19:44.1. Also finishing in the top 100 for the Falcons were sophomores Katie Burke (Braintree/ Braintree HS) and Julie Morena (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS). Burke was 94th in 20:12.0 and Morena was the 99th to cross the line, in 20:20.3.

In the team standings, Bentley was 13th of 38 with a score of 415. East Stroudsburg University bested New Paltz State for first place, 93-113, and the individual winner was ESU's Allison Decker, with a 5,000-meter time of 17:50.1.

Bentley will return to action Oct. 4 at the Louisville Cross Country Classic in Kentucky.
