Dooley Runs to 2nd in Northeast-10 Championships

JAMES VILLE, N.Y. – For the second straight year, Bentley University sophomore Tara Dooley (Lee, Mass./Lee HS) took second place in the Northeast-10 Conference women's cross country championships, which were contested Saturday morning at Jamesville Beach Park.

Dooley covered the 5,000-meter course in 18:38.4, crossing the finish line about 15 seconds back of American International College's Jeptui Cherutich, who earned her third consecutive NE-10 championship.

Bentley, which had been ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II East Region entering the meet, struggled to an eighth-place finish as a team, with a score of 192 points. A total of 16 institutions and 159 runners participated in the 32nd edition of the event.

Senior Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater, Mass./Coyle-Cassidy HS) was the other Falcon to earn All-Conference honors, earning third place recognition after placing 17th in 19:26.3. Junior Ashley Nichols (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) was Bentley's number three finisher, with her time of 19:56.5 good for 30th overall.

Rounding out Bentley's top five were junior Leah Schiller (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe HS) and freshman Samantha Albanese (Lynnfield, Mass./Lynnfield HS). They were 76th and 79th, respectively, with times of 21:14.9 and 21:17.3.

Stonehill College earned its fourth team championship, besting Adelphi University by 15 points, 65-80. Five different institutions were represented in the top five individuals, with Cherutich and Dooley followed by Southern Connecticut's Courtney Dinnan, St. Michael's Chloe Boutelle and Stonehill's Caroline McBride.

Bentley's next meet is the NCAA Division II East Regional in Nashua, N.H. Nov. 4.
