Albanese Leads Bentley Women’s Cross Country in Shacklette Invitational

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Freshman Samantha Albanese (Lynnfield, Mass./Lynnfield HS) was the number one Bentley University women's cross country runner to the finish line during Saturday's Shacklette Invitational at Saint Anselm College. She covered the 5,000-meter course in 21:28.7 to place 20th in her collegiate debut.

Bentley, with its expected top five runners on the sidelines not competing, placed fifth of seven in the team standings, with a score of 119 points.

Two other Falcons cracked the top 30 with freshman Sarah Brennan (Quincy, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) 28th in 21:54.8 and sophomore Nikki Sirignano (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington HS) 29th in 22:12.5.

Stonehill College, with eight of the top ten finishers, easily claimed the team championship over second-place Saint Anselm and third-place Assumption. The Skyhawks went 1-2-3 with Emily Regan winning the race in 19:17.4.

Bentley is back in action next Saturday with the UMass-Dartmouth Shriners' Classic.
