Three Bentley Players Named All-Region by AVCA; Pacis Recognized as AVCA Regional Coach of the Year

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University seniors Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School), Xio Lopp (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead HS) and Dani Milner (Plano, Texas/Greenhill School) were chosen for the AVCA Division II All-East Region first team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. It was the first time since 2006 that the Falcons had three honorees.

In addition, Joey Pacis was recognized as the AVCA Division II East Region Coach of the Year and freshman Ingrid Murphy (Cotuit/Barnstable HS) was an honorable mention All-Region selection.

Bruno and Milner also received all-region recognition from the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association, which was chosen by the region's sports information directors. Bruno was a first-team selection and Milner was a second-teamer.

The four players and Pacis helped Bentley capture both the regular season and tournament championships in the Northeast-10, as well as earn the number two seed in the NCAA Division II East Regional. The Falcons finished 26-6 overall, the program's highest winning percentage since 2002.

Bruno, a three-time All-Northeast-10 honoree (first team in 2019, second team the previous two years), hit .298 this season while averaging 1.97 kills, 0.91 blocks, 0.28 aces and 2.8 points. She led the NE10 in hitting for the third straight year and was fifth in blocks. Bruno appeared in every match during her four years and finished with career totals that included 902 kills, 362 blocks, 1,218.5 points and a .324 hitting percentage. On Bentley's all-time lists, she ranks third in hitting and eighth in blocks.

Milner, who received first-team All-Northeast-10 honors for the second time in her career, led Bentley in kills (2.76) and points (3.1) while also averaging 1.33 digs and 0.46 blocks. She had double-figure kills 17 times, with a high of 21 in the NE10 semifinals against Saint Anselm, and four double-doubles. Milner amassed 895 kills and 707 digs during her career while playing in 88 matches.

Lopp, the Northeast-10 Setter of the Year, surpassed 1,000 assists for the season, finishing nine over that milestone, and averaged 9.61 assists, 2.84 digs, 0.62 blocks and 0.73 kills. She had a season-high 51 assists twice and 15 double-doubles. Lopp played in 89 career matches for the Falcons and accumulated 1,875 assists, 590 digs, 158 blocks and 202 kills.

Murphy, who was previously named the NE10 Rookie of the Year, was third on the team in kills (2.28), second in digs (2.98) and fourth in points (2.6). She had 10 or more kills in nine of the last 11 matches and eight double-doubles.

Pacis, who was honored as the Sandy Hoffman Coach of the Year for the fourth time, directed the Falcons to their first NE10 regular season title since 2014 and their first tournament title since 2006. His team improved on its 2018 record by 15 victories with the 26 wins the program's most in 13 years.
