Milner’s 15 Kills Sparks Bentley to 15th Straight Win & 1st 20-Win Season since 2008

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – With a hard-fought five-setter against Le Moyne College Saturday afternoon, the Bentley University women's volleyball team completed a perfect month of October (9-0), extended its winning streak to 15 and reached the 20-win plateau for the first time since 2008.

The Falcons, 20-4 overall and 9-0 NE10, were forced to come from behind after dropping the first and third sets to the Dolphins at Ted Grant Court. Scores of the tightly-contested match were 25-27, 25-21, 16-25, 25-13, and 17-15.

Senior Dani Milner (Plano, Texas/The Greenhill School) powered the Falcons with 15 kills, including the 800th of her career, and a .308 hitting percentage, and classmate Xio Lopp (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead HS) had another strong showing from the setter position. She finished with 47 assists, 13 digs, six kills without an error in 11 swings, and three blocks.

The decisive fifth set started in a positive fashion for the visitors with Bentley leading 8-4 at the switch of ends and extending the advantage to 13-7 following a run of four straight points.

The next six points went to Le Moyne, forging a 13-all tie and the Dolphins would tie it up two more points before the outcome was determined. With the set deadlocked at 15, Milner returned the lead to her team with a kill. Senior Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker HS) followed with one of her own, securing match point.

In the second set, Bentley closed with six straight points after looking at a 21-19 deficit and the threat of going down 2-0. Two of the Falcons' four kills during that spurt came from freshman Ingrid Murphy (Cotuit, Mass./Barnstable HS).

Milner was followed in the kill column by Bruno and Murphy, with 12 and 11, respectively. Bruno also had her hand in seven of the team's 11 blocks. Junior Mallory Burbage (Bow Mar, Colo./ Littleton HS) chipped in with three aces, nine kills and 12 digs.

For Le Moyne (10-9 3-4 NE10), freshman Madeleine Kennedy (Chelsea, Mich.) finished with 15 kills.

Bentley's next match is Friday night at home against Adelphi University, with the first serve scheduled for 5:30 pm.
