Impressive Hitting Performance Propels Bentley to 10th Straight Win

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior setter Xio Lopp (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead HS) recorded 41 assists, an impressive total for a three-set match, and helped the Falcons hit .325 as the Bentley University women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to ten with a 25-16, 25-20, 25-12 Northeast-10 Conference win Tuesday night at the Dana Center.

Bentley, riding the program's longest winning streak since 2002, improved to 15-4 overall, including 12-1 in the East Region, and stayed unbeaten in the conference (4-0). Over the ten-match run, the Falcons have won 30 of 32 sets. Franklin Pierce dropped to 7-7 overall and 1-2 NE10.

The Falcons, who trailed for only three serves all night, were powered by junior Kirsten Segaline (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain HS) and senior Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School). Segaline hit .357 with a match-high 13 kills and Bruno turned swung at a .525 success rate with 11 kills and only one error in 19 swings. She also had two blocks and an ace.

Freshman Ingrid Murphy (Cotuit/Barnstable HS) followed with nine kills and two aces, and classmate Jenna Giaquinto (Lighthouse Point, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons HS) made 13 digs. Senior Emily Barthelmes (Buchanan, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson HS) finished with 11 digs and Lopp completed her double-double with ten digs.

Fifty of Bentley's 75 points came via kills and the Falcons finished with a 6-0 advantage in service aces.

Next up for the Falcons is a Friday night match at Stonehill College.
