Bentley Sweeps Mercy & AIC, Extends Win Streak to 6

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Bentley University women's volleyball team extended its streak of 3-0 victories to six with victories over Mercy College and American International College Saturday at Victory Gym.  The Falcons soared past Mercy, 25-19, 25-21 and 25-19, and earned a 25-22, 25-21, 25-18 non-conference win over AIC.

The two victories boosted Bentley's record to 11-4, matching the Falcons' win total from 2018, and the six-match winning streak is the team's longest since a similar one in 2016.

Against Mercy, junior Kristen Segaline (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain HS) led Bentley with ten kills and came within one dig of a double-double. Senior Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School) had a strong match for the Falcons with nine kills, no errors, a .500 hitting percentage and  four aces.

Bentley hit over 27 percent in each set, with senior Xio Lopp (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead HS) making ten assists in the opening set and sophomore Amanda Parker (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North HS) 21 in the final two.

The Falcons, who never trailed by more than three at any point in the triangular, received 12 kills and eight digs from Segaline in the AIC match. Lopp had 27 assists and freshmen Ingrid Murphy (Cotuit, Mass./Barnstable HS) and Jenna Giaquinto (Lighthouse Point, Fla./Hendrick Hudson HS) combined for 23 digs in the 82-minute match.

Bentley will begin October Tuesday with a 7:00 pm Northeast-10 match at Saint Anselm.
