Bentley Sweeps Roberts Wesleyan and Franklin Pierce

RINDGE , N.H. – Sophomore Shannon Ngo (San Rafael, Calif./Terra Linda HS) had ten kills with a .471 hitting percentage and senior Dani Milner (Plano, Texas/Greenhill School) matched her in the kill column as Bentley University swept Franklin Pierce University, 3-0, in the finale of a triangular women's volleyball match at the FPU Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon. Scores were 25-14, 25-20 and 25-22.

In the Falcons' earlier match, Bentley used 11 aces, including three apiece from senior Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School) and junior Kirsten Segaline (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain HS) to dispatch Roberts Wesleyan College in three, 25-13, 25-19 and 25-23.

The two wins boosted Bentley to 7-4 on the season, including 4-1 against East Region opponents. Franklin Pierce slid to 6-4 and Roberts Wesleyan remained winless on the season (0-11).

Milner had a team-best seven kills in two sets against Roberts Wesleyan and senior setter Xio Lopp (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead HS) assisted on 25 of the Falcons' 33 total kills.

In the final set, Bentley faced a 21-16 deficit before battling back with a 9-2 run that included two aces by Ngo.

Ngo's strong hitting in the Franklin Pierce match was complemented by Bruno, who finished with seven kills and no errors in 12 swings. She also had two aces, as did Ngo, Lopp and senior captain Emily Barthelmes (Buchanan, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson HS). Lopp recorded 34 assists and Bruno had a hand in five of her team's eight blocks.

Bentley has a pair of home matches this week, Tuesday against Post University and Thursday against Southern New Hampshire.
