WALTHAM, Mass. – Four different Falcons reached double-digits in kills, including sophomore Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Frances Parker School) and freshman Kirsten Segaline (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain HS), as Bentley University posted a 3-2 win over Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Saturday at the Dana Center.

The 25-16, 25-14, 24-26, 22-25, 15-11 victory secured the third seed in next week's conference championships for the Falcons, who finished the regular season at 19-9 overall and 10-4 NE10. Adelphi, which was also playing for the third seed, dipped to 13-15 overall and 9-5 conference.

Segaline had four of her kills in the decisive fifth set, one in which the Falcons never trailed after scoring the first two points on a kill and ace by Bruno. A run of five straight made it 9-3 and match point came on a Panther ball handling error.

Bentley dominated the first two sets, leading from the opening point in both. The Falcons began the first with an 8-3 run and bettered that by one in the second.

In the third, the Falcons held a 24-21 lead following an Adelphi attack error. However, the next five belonged to the visitors who had never led up until that point. In the fourth, the Panthers closed with a 9-5 spurt after trailing 17-16.

Segaline and Bruno both achieved their 13 kills with identical .321 hitting percentages. Bruno also had four blocks and Segaline pitched in with nine digs and two aces.

Senior McKenna Buck (Renton, Wash./Holy Names Acad.) hit .368 with ten kills, and classmate Shannon Kelly (Hyde Park, N.Y./Franklin D. Roosevelt HS) had a stat line that included 11 kills and 11 digs. Also helping with the win were senior Celia Cristofoli (Fort Collins, Colo./Hudson (Ohio) HS), with 24 digs, and sophomore Xio Lopp (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead HS), with 45 assists, 11 digs and four blocks.

Freshman Victoria Cast (Westbury, N.Y.) led Adelphi with 22 kills.

The conference championships will get underway Tuesday with Bentley hosting sixth-seeded Saint Anselm at 7 pm.
