Saint Anselm Snaps Bentley’s 4-Game Streak with 3-0 Sweep

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Bentley University Falcons entered Saint Anselm College's Stoutenburgh Gymnasium with a four-match winning streak, but left with their second loss of the season to the Hawks in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Tuesday night.

It was a sweep for Saint Anselm, 25-23, 27-25 and 25-17, as the Hawks outhit the visitors .254-.162.

The first two sets could have gone either way with the first tied at 20-20 and Bentley down just one, 24-23, following a kill by Bentley sophomore and NE10 Player of the Week Dani Milner (Plano, Texas/The Greenhill School). The Hawks responded with a set-ending kill by senior Katy Teets (Dix Hills, N.Y.).

In the second, Bentley held a 17-13 lead and was up 25-24 before Saint Anselm came up with the final three points, including a kill and block assist from Teets. The third set saw an 8-1 Hawk run produce a 9-3 advantage, one that the Falcons were never able to recover from.

Teets led Saint Anselm (10-4, 4-0 NE10) with 12 kills, seven digs and two aces. Freshman Jordan Schamp (Plymouth, Mich.) also excelled with ten kills in 20 swings without an error, as well as three of the Hawks' nine aces.

Both sophomore middle Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Frances Parker HS) and senior outside Shannon Kelly (Hyde Park, N.Y./Franklin D. Roosevelt HS) had ten kills for Bentley. Sophomore Xio Lopp (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead HS)) finished with 30 assists and 14 digs, and senior libero Celia Cristofoli (Fort Collins, Colo./Hudson (Ohio) HS) made 17 digs.

Bentley (9-5, 2-1 NE10) will return home to host Southern New Hampshire Friday and Merrimack Saturday afternoon.
