Milner Supplies 2 Double-Doubles as Bentley Gains Split on Long Island

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Sophomore outside hitter Dani Milner (Plano, Texas/The Greenhill School) had her sixth and seventh double-doubles of the season as Bentley University split a pair of matches Saturday during a triangular women's volleyball match at Molloy College's Quealy Gymnasium.

The Falcons, now 6-4 on the season, bounced back from a four-set loss to 9-1 Molloy to sweep Georgian Court University in its second match of the day, 25-20, 25-23 and 25-21. The scores against Molloy were 25-21, 24-26, 25-20, 25-22.

Against Georgian Court, Milner hit a solid .321 while totaling 13 kills, ten digs and an ace. Classmate and middle blocker Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Frances Parker HS) also played a key role, with eight kills, two blocks and a .350 hitting percentage.

Junior setter Krista Campbell (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North HS) served four of Bentley's nine aces and also assisted on 32 of the Falcons' 40 kills.

The Molloy match was closely contested throughout. After the two teams split the first two sets, the pivotal third was tied at 18 after a Milner kill. However, the Lions picked up the next two points, five of the next six and seven of the next nine to take control.

In the fourth, sophomore setter Xio Lopp (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead HS) assisted on a Bruno kill and added two of her own to give Bentley a 22-21 lead. However, the final four points of the match belonged to the Lions, including kills from freshman Emily Meyer (Seaford, N.Y.) and sophomore Carly Banks (Camas, Wash.).

Banks led Molloy with 16 kills, a total matched by sophomore teammate Shannon Wren (Lynbrook, N.Y.), who had only one error in 27 swings.

Bruno and Milner both had 12 kills and four blocks for Bentley, and freshman outside hitter Kirsten Segaline (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain HS) followed with 11. Milner completed her double-double with 16 digs, and senior setter Celia Cristofoli (Fort Collins, Colo./Hudson (Ohio) HS) totaled 22 digs.

Lopp handled the setting chores for Bentley and established career highs in assists (46) and digs (13).

Bentley will be back at home Tuesday when it opens its Northeast-10 Conference schedule against Franklin Pierce (7 pm).
