Segaline Impresses as Bentley Splits on Day 2 of Saint Anselm Hawk Invitational

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Freshman outside hitter Kirsten Segaline (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain HS) put up a career-best 17 kills, 11 digs and two aces, and both sophomore outside hitter Dani Milner (Plano, Texas/ The Greenhill School) and junior setter Krista Campbell (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North HS) also  posted double-doubles, as Bentley University recorded a 3-1 win over Assumption College Saturday morning in the Saint Anselm Hawk Invitational at Stoutenburgh Gym. The scores were 25-22, 21-25, 25-16 and 25-19.

Bentley completed the two-day tournament with a 2-2 record after falling to the host institution Saturday afternoon. After the Falcons took the opening set, 25-18, Saint Anselm claimed the final three by scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-23.

Milner, who had her fourth and fifth double-doubles of the season, hit .371 against the 1-6 Greyhounds with 14 kills and an identical number of digs. Campbell totaled 39 assists, 11 digs and a pair of aces in the victory.

As a team, Bentley outhit Assumption .256-.140 despite the Greyhounds' 11-4 advantage in blocks.

Blocks were also a factor against Saint Anselm with the Hawks making 14, including nine by freshman middle blocker Holly Manchester (Lodi, Wisc.). She also contributed as a hitter, finishing with a .294 success rate on eight kills.

In the clinching fourth set, Bentley battled back with three straight points, the last on a Segaline kill, to close within one, 25-24. However, senior middle blocker Amanda Williams (North Andover, Mass.) put it away for the home team with her tenth kill of the match.

Sophomore outside hitter Catherine McCarthy (Broad Run, Va.) led the 3-4 Hawks with 15 kills, and junior setter Jewel Hays (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) provided 41 assists and ten digs. Saint Anselm served 10 aces in the match, including four by senior defensive specialist Danielle Isbel (Poway, Calif.).

Segaline posted 14 kills for Bentley, and Milner followed with ten, along with 21 assists. Sophomore middle blocker Rachel Bruno (San Diego, Calif./Frances Parker School) hit .333 with eight kills and four blocks.

Bentley, 5-3, is off until Saturday when they'll face Georgian Court and Molloy in a triangular in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
