MANCHESTER, N.H. – After falling in four sets to Edinboro University in its first match of the day, the Bentley University women's volleyball team swept past Nyack College in three Friday evening during the Saint Anselm Hawks Invitational at Stoutenburgh Gym. The scores were 25-16, 25-11 and 25-21.

In the win over the struggling Lady Warriors (0-7), sophomore Lori Bruno (San Diego, Calif./ Frances Parker School) led Bentley with nine kills and a .400 hitting percentage.

Xio Lopp (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead HS), also a sophomore, handled the setting duties for Bentley in the match and contributed 23 assists, four kills in eight swings and three blocks. Freshman Kirsten Segaline (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain HS) also played a role, finishing with 12 digs and three aces as she continued the strong start to her collegiate career.

Bentley started strong against Edinboro, taking the opening set 25-18 as sophomore Dani Milner (Plano, Texas/The Greenhill School) shined with four kills, four digs, two blocks and two aces. However, the Fighting Scots rebounded to take the next three by scores of 25-23, 25-22 and 25-18.

Bentley held a 23-22 lead in the second before Edinboro (4-1) rallied for the next three points, on two kills by Cierah Jackson and a Falcon attack error.

The third was also close late with Bentley within one at 23-22. A Jackson kill pushed the lead to two and Edinboro claimed set point on an ace by Chailen Litwiler.

Jackson hit a sparkling .439 for the Scots with 24 kills. Litwiler followed with 12 kills and 20 digs, and Sydney Trathen provided 40 assists, 10 digs and three aces.

Senior outside hitter Shannon Kelly (Hyde Park, N.Y./Franklin D. Roosevelt HS) led Bentley with 13 kills and 13 digs, her fourth double-double of the season. Milner finished with 18 digs and ten kills, and junior setter Krista Campbell (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North HS) totaled 37 assists and eight digs.
