Buscher, Rotkin Lead Way as Bentley Rallies Past Le Moyne in 4

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – With senior outside hitter Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain HS) and junior setter Allie Rotkin (Cumming, Ga./Milton HS) leading the way, Bentley University took sole possession of third place in the Northeast-10 Conference with a 3-1 win over Le Moyne College in women's volleyball action on Ted Grant Court Saturday afternoon.

Buscher finished with 16 kills, 17 digs, four blocks and a .292 hitting percentage while Rotkin, in her first start since Sept. 4, contributed a career-best 43 assists, eight digs and four aces, all career bests.

Bentley, which bounced back from Friday night's loss at Saint Rose with the 19-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-23 victory, improved to 16-8 overall and 9-3 NE-10. Le Moyne, hampered by 26 attack errors, 10 service errors and nine receiving errors, dropped to 15-7 and 6-4.

After the Dolphins took the opening set, the Falcons were in danger of falling behind 2-0 in the match when they trailed 20-14 in the second. Bentley ran off five straight points, a run that featured two kills and a block assist from senior Stephanie Metzger (Georgetown, Texas/Liberty Hill HS), to get within one.

Facing a 23-22 deficit, Bentley tied the set for the fifth time on a Dolphin service error and grabbed its first lead on a bad set by the home team. Junior Ashley Latimer (Croton on Hudson, N.Y./ Croton Harmon HS) followed with a set-ending kill for the Falcons, evening the match.

With Buscher producing six kills in 13 swings, Bentley was in control most of the third set to take the lead in the match.

The Falcons vaulted out to a 13-2 lead in the fourth, but Le Moyne wasn't ready to pack it in. The Dolphins battled back to tie the count at both 21 and 23 before a Buscher kill and Dolphin attack error capped the Bentley comeback.

Latimer hit .300 with nine kills, sophomore Celia Cristofoli (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson HS) contributed 14 digs and two aces, and senior Jessica Segal (West Harrison, N.Y./Harrison HS) made 24 digs.

Le Moyne received from hitting performances from Natalie Casson (22 kills, .327), Jessica Miller (20, .349) and Anna Hofoka (15 kills, .371) with Kendall Corcoran providing the assist on 62 of 66 kills.

Bentley will be back in action Friday night with a 7:30 home game against the University of New Haven.
