11 Kills by Dominguez Helps Bentley Sweep Pace, 3-0

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Senior middle blocker Savannah Dominguez (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity HS) hit .500 and had 11 kills, all in the first two sets, as Bentley University swept past Pace University, 3-0, in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Friday night at the Goldstein Fitness Center.

Bentley, ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II East Region this week, improved to 14-9 overall and 9-2 in the conference with the 25-23, 25-23, 25-10 victory. The win, coupled with a 3-1 win by Stonehill College over Adelphi University, left the three teams all tied for second in the NE-10 in the loss column.

In the opening set, the Falcons faced a 23-22 deficit before a Dominguez kill evened the count. A Pace attack error gave Bentley the lead and the set ended with a shared block by junior Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain HS) and senior Simone Silvera (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook HS).

The Falcons also staged a comeback in the second set, this one more impressive as they faced a 23-19 deficit before stringing together six unanswered points to open a 2-0 lead in the match. Buscher accounted for two of the team's four kills during that stretch and a Setter attack error accounted for the closing point.

No late comeback was necessary in the third as Bentley broke a 3-3 tie with five unanswered points and was never threatened from there.

Eleven different players recorded kills for Bentley with Dominguez followed by Buscher's seven. Senior setter Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough School) finished with 28 assists, and senior setter Lauren Colasanti (Northville, Mich./Northville HS) provided 13 digs and three aces.

Pace (4-19, 1-9 NE-10) received a match-high 13 kills from junior Alyssa Marchino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.).

Bentley will remain in the Empire State for a 1:00 Saturday match at Adelphi, a match-up of two of the conference's and region's best.
