Franklin Pierce Sweeps Past Bentley in Three

RINDGE, N.H. – Freshman Madison Klusendorf (Santa Maria, Calif.) put up a double-double and sophomore Aiden Garcia (Eagle Pass, Texas) hit .429 with 11 kills as Franklin Pierce University took care of Bentley University, 3-0, in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball at The Fieldhouse Friday night. Scores were 25-19, 25-20 and 25-21.

Klusendorf, who finished with 12 kills and 11 digs, got off to strong start with four kills and six digs in the opening set. It was tied three times early, the last coming at 7-7, before a 12-6 spurt put the home team in control.

An ace by sophomore Kelsey Hausman (Sandy, Utah) broke a 1-1 tie in the second set, giving Franklin Pierce a lead it never relinquished.

The third was the most closely contested with ten ties and four lead changes before the Ravens ran off five straight points to make it a commanding 23-18 advantage.

Franklin Pierce (6-6, 1-1 NE-10) also received ten kills from senior Catie Swiderski (Rocky Point, N.Y.) and 33 assists from freshman setter Hannah Runge (Deltona, Fla.).

For Bentley, which was playing without its two All-Conference players because of injury, sophomore Ashley Latimer (Croton on Hudson, N.Y./Croton Harmon HS) and senior Tatiana Froehlich (Newton/Newton North HS) each had six kills. Junior Jessica Segal (West Harrison, N.Y./Harrison HS) made her first career start at setter and finished with 23 saves.

Bentley, 6-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play, is off until an Oct. 4 match at St. Michael's.
