Bentley Sweeps Past Southern New Hampshire in 3 to Remain Perfect in NE-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior middle hitter Savannah Dominguez (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity HS) matched her uniform number with 13 kills, sophomore Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain HS) filled the stat sheet with 17 digs and eight kills, and both hit .500 as Bentley University remained perfect in the Northeast-10 Conference with a 3-0 sweep of Southern New Hampshire University in women's volleyball at the Dana Center Tuesday evening.

The 25-22, 25-14, 25-14 victory boosted the 12-6 Falcons to 6-0 in the NE-10 and set up a battle for first place when Bentley hosts the University of New Haven, also 6-0 in conference play, Saturday afternoon. That will also be the team's Dig Lavender game to raise monies for rare cancers.

Buscher had a dominating opening set, with seven kills in 11 attempts along with five digs and a block. After leading 17-10, the Falcons fell behind 22-21 before running off four in a row to take the lead in the match. Dominguez tied the score with a kill, Buscher put her team back in front with a block and closed out the set with back-to-back kills.

Bentley matched the 4-0 run to start the second set and later used an 8-1 surge to open a commanding 19-8 lead. Included in that run were three kills from sophomore Kaleigh Sullivan (Naples, Fla./Harley School, N.Y.).

The Falcons finished strong in the final set, closing with a 10-2 run after the Penmen (8-8, 3-3 NE-10) ran off five straight to pull within three at 15-12. Six of those ten points came on SNHU attack errors, with a block by Buscher and junior Emily Garcia (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas HS) accounting for match point.

Junior Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough School) finished with 33 assists, 16 of which came in the opening set. Bentley also received 15 digs and two aces from junior Lauren Colasanti (Northville, Mich./Northville HS).

Bentley hit .340 for the match with 41 kills and only nine errors.  The Falcons had 13 kills before their first error in the first set and ten before its initial error in the second.
