Dominguez, Buscher and Tator Record Career-Bests as Bentley Captures Sharks in Four

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Junior middle blocker Savannah Dominguez (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity HS) continued a string of impressive performances by recording a career-high 18 kills as the Bentley University women's volleyball team posted a four-set victory over Nova Southeastern University in the team's final match in the Eckerd College Classic Saturday afternoon at McArthur Gym.

The 25-21, 20-25, 25-21, 25-22 victory over the Sharks evened Bentley's record at 4-4 and gave the squad a 1-3 record for the tournament.

Dominguez, who hit .440 and averaged 3.46 kills during the return to her home state, had a .500 success rate and a pair of blocks in the victory. She put down six kills to stake the Falcons to the first-set win, had no attack errors through three sets and recorded five kills in the clinching fourth set.

Junior setter Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough School) and sophomore Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain HS) also played key roles against the Sharks. Tator matched her career-best with 48 assists, averaging a dozen per set, and also contributed seven digs and four kills. Buscher's 14 kills was also a career-high, and she hit .344 for the Falcons.

Bentley also received eight kills from junior Kaleigh Sullivan (Naples, Fla./Harley School, N.Y.) and a combined 21 digs from junior Lauren Colasanti (Northville, Mich./Northville HS) and sophomore Jessica Segal (West Harrison, N.Y./Harrison HS).

In the pivotal third set, the Falcons faced a 19-16 deficit before coming alive with a 9-2 surge to end the set. Six Nova attack errors helped set up set point, and a Buscher kill put Bentley up 2-1 in the match.

In the fourth, back-to-back Buscher kills broke a 16-all tie and the Falcons never relinquished the lead the rest of the way.

Earlier in the day, Bentley fell to Wilmington College (Del.) in a regional match by the scores of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-20. That was a difficult one as the Falcons had a late lead in the opener (20-19) and five-point leads in the other two (10-5 in the second, 13-8 in the third.

Dominguez led the offense with 12 kills and a .400 hitting percentage, and also had three blocks. Buscher followed with eight kills and a .312 success rate, while Tator had the assist on all but one of the team's 36 assists. Colansanti amassed 17 digs, making nearly six per set.

After returning from the Sunshine State, Bentley will be off until next Saturday when it will play a triangular match at Saint Anselm.
