GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Adelphi University was in control from the start en route to a three-set sweep of visiting Bentley at the Center for Recreation and Sports in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Friday evening. Scores were 25-12, 25-11 and 25-11.
The Panthers, who stand in second place in the conference, hit .394 for the match with the play of sophomore Kaitlin DeStefano (Farmingdale, N.Y.) a major reason. She had an .800 hitting percentage with eight kills and no errors in only ten attacks.
Grad student and libero Bianca Hernandez (East Moriches, N.Y.) also had a strong match for Adelphi as she served three aces and finished with 14 digs.
The top performer for Bentley was senior middle blocker Grace Conner (Santa Barbara, Calif./ San Marcos HS) with seven kills and a block.
Bentley had only one lead all night, that coming on a kill by Conner for the opening point of the third set.
Bentley (9-17, 4-7 NE-10) will be back in the Dana Center Tuesday night for a 7:30 pm match against Stonehill College.
