Bentley Uses Balance to Win on Road, 3-1 at Nyack

NYACK, N.Y. – Freshman setter Kyana Miller (San Diego, Calif./Canyon Crest Acad.) amassed 36 assists, four aces and four kills, and four teammates had at least nine kills, as Bentley University posted a 3-1 win over Nyack College in non-conference women's volleyball Friday night at the Bowman Gymnasium.

Bentley, 4-9, took the final two sets in convincing fashion, 25-13 and 25-14, after splitting the first two (25-20, 21-25).

Senior middle Grace Conner (Santa Barbara, Calif./San Marcos HS) had a strong hitting night for the Falcons with ten kills, no errors and a .625 success rate. Bentley also received 10 from sophomore Kelsey Buckner (San Marino, Calif./San Marino HS), who also provided 11 digs, and freshman Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain HS).

The pivotal third set saw Nyack grab an early 2-1 lead before the Falcons came alive with four straight points. That flurry included an ace by sophomore Simone Silvera (Bolingbrook, Ill./ Bolingbrook HS) and a Conner block.

The third set also included a stretch of seven straight Falcon points that made it 16-5, and another string of five in a row that extended the advantage to 22-7.

Bentley jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the final set of the night, with two of those points coming on aces by Miller. A kill by Buckner and an ace from sophomore Chanel Batiste (Prairieville, La./Baton Rouge Magnet) accounted for the final two points of the night.

Silvera gave the Falcons nine kills and six blocks, and sophomore libero Lauren Colasanti (Northville, Mich./Northville HS) made 13 digs.

Bentley is back in action Saturday morning with an 11 am conference match at Pace University.
