Bentley Opens Own Invitational With 3-Set Sweep of Queens

WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore Tatiana Froehlich (Newton/Newton North HS) hit .400 with a team-leading nine kills, and classmates Kelsey Buckner (San Marino, Calif./San Marino HS) and Simone Silvera (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook HS) also played key roles, as the Bentley University women's volleyball team swept past Queens College (N.Y.) Friday night in its own invitational at the Dana Center. Scores were 25-19, 25-21, 25-19.

Buckner provided eight kills and Silvera helped out both offensively and defensively, finishing with four aces and four blocks. Setting chores were handled by freshman Kyana Miller (San Diego, Calif./Canyon Crest Acad.) and sophomore Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough School), with the duo combining for 27.

Bentley put away the opening set by scoring the final three points, two on kills by Buckner. An 8-3 spurt that featured two Silvera aces closed out the second, and the Falcons ended the match the same way they did the first, with three straight points. Those came on kills by sophomore Kaleigh Sullivan (Victor, N.Y./Harley School), Buckner and freshman Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain HS).

Bentley snapped a four-match slide with the victory and improved to 2-4 overall. Queens remained in search of win number one, dropping to 0-8.

The tournament continues Saturday with Bentley facing California (Pa.) at 10 am and Georgian Court at 3 pm.
