Bentley Track Set for Northeast-10 Championships

WALTHAM, Mass. – Led by senior Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) and junior Alex Arnold (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy), the Bentley University men's and women's track and field teams will be at Southern New Hampshire University Friday and Saturday for the Northeast-10 Conference Championships.

Mattson, who has broken school records 35 times during her career, is seeded second in both the long jump and the triple jump, with distances of 19'3.5" and 39'3", respectively. Her career resume includes three career NE10 silver medals, including the indoor triple jump last February.

Arnold is listed fourth in the long jump and sixth in the 100 on the entry lists. A year ago, he just missed scoring in the long jump with a ninth-place finish.

Also sporting the sixth-best qualifying times are seniors Cody Murphy (Dunbarton, N.H./ Goffstown HS) in the 10,000 (33:25.69) and Dan Hergott (Wallingford, Conn./Xavier HS)in the 5,000 (15:34.27). Both competed in those same events last year with Murphy the runner-up in the 10K and Hergott tenth in the 5K.

A couple others hopeful of scoring during the championships are junior Josh Gettings (Lowell/ Lowell HS) in the 400 hurdles and freshman Stephanie Bilodeau (New Ipswich, N.H./Mascenic Reg. HS) in the 10,000. Bilodeau had the seventh best qualifying time (41:01.98) and Gettings was sixth last year in the 400 hurdles.

Action gets underway at 2 pm Friday and will resume Saturday morning at 10 am. The championships will be webcast on the NE10 NOW Digital Network (www.NE10NOW.com).
