Mattson Receives Rookie of the Week Honors from the Northeast-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University freshman Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./ Smithfield HS) has been named the Women's Field Rookie of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference. It's the second time this season she's been honored.

During the Dartmouth Invitational Saturday, Mattson cleared 16'7.25" in the long jump to finish 5th of 23, and ran a leg on Bentley's 4x400 relay. In addition, she was third of 17 in the 500 meters with her time of 1:21.4 ranking 12thin program's history.

 Mattson has competed in six different individual events during her rookie season and owns Bentley's top performance of the season in five of those:  7.69 in the 55, 1:00.59 in the 400, 1:21.24 in the 500, a school record 1:39.86 in the 600 and 35'2" in the triple jump. On the Northeast-10 performance list, she ranks fourth in the long jump (17'9"), seventh in the triple jump, 10th in the 500, 20th in the 400 and 24th in the 60.

Also recognized by the NE-10 this week was sophomore Nick Skarin (Sunapee, N.H./Sunapee HS).  At Dartmouth, Skarin finished first of 27 in the 800 meters, his time of 1:55.54 a PR by 0.06 seconds.  That lifted him to number two on the NE-10's performance list and qualified him for the New Englands. In addition, he was a member of the Falcons' 4x400 relay team that finished second in 3:29.54 (7th best in the NE-10 this season).

Bentley's next meet, the David Hemery Valentine's Invitational at Boston University, is Friday night.
