Froehlich Reclaims School Record in Hammer

DURHAM, N.H. – Two weeks after having the school record in the hammer taken away, Bentley University junior Tatiana Froehlich (Newton, Mass./Newton North HS) regained the standard while competing in the University of New Hampshire Wildcat Classic Saturday afternoon at the Reggie F. Atkins Track.

Froehlich entered the season as Bentley's record-holder in the event following a throw of 104 feet during the Northeast-10 Championships last spring. Senior teammate Aubrey Batzinger (Wallingford, Conn./Lyman Hall) took possession of the mark two weeks ago at the Tufts Snowflake Classic and extended it to 109 feet, seven inches at the UMass-Dartmouth Corsair Classic last Saturday.

Froehlich bettered that number by two inches, exceeding her own personal best  by nearly six feet. She was ninth of 15 overall in the largely-Division I meet and her throw put her at number six on this year's Northeast-10 performance list. Batzinger was right behind her in 10th with a distance of 104 feet, 11 inches.

Junior Jacqueline Carlson (Kensington, Conn./Berlin HS) was one of five Bentley athletes who finished in the top half of their respective events. She threw the javelin 103 feet, one inch to place sixth out of 19.

In the shot put, junior Brynnan Farrington (Shirley, Mass./Ayer HS) was sixth of 12 after a throw of 36 feet, 7.5 inches.

Senior Ashley Nichols (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) finished tenth of 36 in the 1500 meters (4:58.36) and freshman Danielle Coskren (North Andover/North Andover HS) took 18th in 5:09.10. Also in the 1500, freshman Katie Burke (Braintree/Braintree HS) established with a new PR with a 5:14.83, placing 21st overall.

Junior Alix Pettinella (Wingdale, N.Y./Arlington HS) finished 19th of 45 in the 800 with a time of 2:26.72.

This coming week, members of the Bentley women's track and field team will see action in the Holy Cross Multis (Wednesday and Thursday) and the MIT Invitational (Saturday).
