Strong Singles Play Sees Bentley Past UMass-Dartmouth 7-2

Dartmouth, Mass. – Bentley won for the third time in four matches to start the season behind five singles wins in a 7-2 victory at UMass-Dartmouth on Thursday.

Alessa Matuty (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) and Zoe Chin (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) both won in singles and doubles to pace the effort, as the Falcons improved to 3-1 on the season.

Matuty and Chin won the No. 1 doubles match 8-4 and also won the top two singles matches. Matuty took the No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-1 and Chin the No. 2 match 6-4, 6-1.

Freshman Anna Higgins (Andover, Mass./Andover) picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win in No. 4 singles, joined by victories for Cindy Luo (Stamford, Conn./Stamford) in No. 5 (6-4, 6-4) and Miruna Constantin (Ploiesti, Romania) in No. 6 (6-1, 6-3).

Freshmen Grace Bennett (Paxton, Mass./Wachusett) and Alyssa Cook (New Castle, N.H./Portsmouth) earned an 8-2 win in No. 3 doubles to help Bentley win two of three in doubles.

Bentley (3-1) will now turns its attention back to NE10 play when they visit Saint Michael's on Saturday.
