Bentley Wins Four of Six in Singles to Top Nichols 4-3

Dudley, Mass. – Bentley won four of six in singles to earn a 4-3 victory over Nichols on Friday afternoon in a non-conference match.

The four singles wins propelled Bentley to the victory after Nichols claimed the doubles point.

Bentley won the No. 1, 2, 3 and 6 singles matches. Senior Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) claimed the No. 1 match with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Nichols' Kara Stankewitz, to improve to 4-1 in singles play this spring.

The No. 2 match went to reigning NE10 Rookie of the Week Alessa Matuty (San Pedro Sula, Honduras), who defeated Juliana Herrera 6-3, 6-3. Sophomore Evann Welty (Wayzata, Minn./Mound Westonka) cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Lindsey Kaplan in No. 3. The No. 6 match went freshman Cindy Luo (Stamford, Conn./Stamford) with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Victoria Lussier.

In doubles, the Falcons' team of Matuty and Welty won the No. 2 match, over Stankewitz and Danielle Mandel, 6-2.

With the win in the books, Bentley now has two matches left this spring, both at home. They take on Endicott on Wednesday and Curry next Friday.
