Bentley Sweeps Simmons 9-0 with Seven Different Winners

 

BOSTON, Mass. – Seven different players contributed to the Bentley women's tennis team's 9-0 sweep of Simmons on Thursday afternoon at the Daly Courts in Boston.

The Falcons earned their 15th win of the season, tying the program single season record, with Sunday's regular season finale at home to Endicott remaining.

In doubles, Bentley dropped just four points total in winning the three matches. Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) and Corrie MacLean (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) swept the No. 2 match 8-0. Evann Welty (Wayzata, Minn./Mound Westonka) and Rachel Hui (Hong Kong) took the No. 1 match 8-2, and Olivia von Oldenburg (Austin, Texas/Vandegrift) and Jill Kamphaus (Walpole, Mass./Ursuline) took the No. 3 match by the same score.

Von Oldenburg was among five players to also win in singles. She won the No. 3 match 6-4, 6-1. MacLean earned her second win of the day with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in No. 6. Alexia Petruzziello (North Haven, Conn./North Haven) swept the No. 4 match, 6-0, 6-0 as well.

Hui in No. 1, Suchanek in No. 2 and Kamphaus in No. 5 also claimed their second wins of the day in singles as part of Bentley's winning effort.

Sunday's finale vs. Endicott gets underway at 12:00 pm.
