Bentley Sweeps Singles in 8-1 Victory over Bloomsburg in Florida Finale

 

ORLANDO, Fla. – Bentley women's tennis ended its Florida trip with a convincing 8-1 win over Bloomsburg on Saturday, powered by a sweep of the singles matches.

Three players won in both singles and doubles, Rachel Hui (Hong Kong), Evann Welty (Wayzata, Minn./Mound Westonka) and Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine/Waterville), while Olivia von Oldenburg (Austin, Texas/Vandegrift), Jill Kamphaus (Walpole, Mass./Ursuline) and Corrie MacLean (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) each won singles matches as well for the singles sweep.

Suchanek swept the No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-0, while von Oldenburg similarly cruised in the No. 4 match, winning it 6-1, 6-1. Kamphaus powered to a 6-3, 7-5 victory in No. 5, while MacLean was a 7-5, 6-1 winner in No. 6..

The doubles matches saw Hui and Welty combine for an 8-5 win in the No. 1 match, and Suchanek and Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) win by a 8-1 score in No. 2.

With the win, Bentley finished its Florida trip with a 3-1 record and three wins in a row. They will head back home with a 13-6 overall record, with their next match coming on March 31 against Connecticut College.
