So. New Hampshire Tops Bentley 6-3 in NE10 Showdown

WALTHAM, Mass. – Visiting Southern New Hampshire came away with a hard fought victory over the Bentley women's tennis team in a Northeast-10 match on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) won two matches on the day for the Falcons.

The Penmen led 2-1 after the doubles matches, then hung on with four of six wins in singles to secure the victory.

Bentley's point in doubles came from the team of Brandow and junior Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) in the No. 2 match. They defeated SNHU's team of Kaitlyn Poje and Lindsay Baum 8-4.

In singles, Bentley's wins came from Brandow in the No. 5 match, and freshman Evann Welty (Wayzata, Minn./Mound Westonka) in the No. 3 match. Brandow defeated Rachel Wagner in two sets, 6-4, 6-1, and Welty knocked Poje in two sets as well, 6-1, 6-3.

The defeat dropped Bentley's records to 9-4 overall and 6-4 NE10. They'll likely need two win their final two regular season matches to qualify for the NE10 postseason. Next up is a visit from Stonehill on Thursday for a 3:00 pm match.
